Later the Same Evening is an opera that is based on the five Edward Hopper paintings below (with one additional painting that was a big inspiration). This design takes obvious inspiration from these and many of the other paintings of Hopper to create a playground of Hopper. This opera focuses on the promise that the theatre brings to the people who believe in its power and purpose. New York is a big city, but it is also a lonley city- this desgin is meant to capture the painterly quality of Edward Hopper, the opressiveness of big city life, and the reassurance that theatre provides.
